Chase's Story...

38 1/2 weeks into my sister-in-law's pregnancy, she and my brother anxiously went to the hospital to deliver their son. They could never have been prepared for what they would have to face when they arrived at the hospital. What should have been one of the happiest times in their lives, quickly turned into a parent's worst nightmare. The doctors were unable to detect the baby's heartbeat. Their son, Chase Daniel Gangloff was stillborn on March 15, 2014. Just two days before, during a regular checkup, my nephew had a healthy heartbeat. The joyous news they received at that checkup filled their souls with anticipation as their first born son was about to become a part of their family. However, just what happened in those 36 hours after the checkup will forever be a question in their minds. We later found out, after the delivery, that a placental abruption occurred, and Chase had been without oxygen, resulting in a stillbirth. Instead of being able to take their son home to meet his big sister Olivia, Chris and Jaclyn were making funeral arrangements for their child, something no parent should ever have to go through.
